Recently the only clothes that are inspiring me are ones you might find in Mick Jaggers closet back in the 70’s. I’ve been rummaging around thrift stores like a mad woman trying to find the perfect vintage pieces to create these rock and roll inspired looks that I have in my head, but unfortunately every time I go I leave empty handed. I blame the fact that I live in suburbia and the only thing people are giving away are fleece zip-ups and khaki pants. I digress. Luckily, my two favorite places to shop have tons of unique pieces that tickle my fancy eerrryyyy time I feel the need to perpetuate my clothes buying obsession. This wrap crop top is from Asos, and I’m actually wearing it backwards because I don’t give a frickin heck. These Mick Jagger inspired trousers are from Zara. They are wide-leg and flared and SO COOL.
I love buying things with the intention to cut it up and make it something new. This top began it’s life as a long sleeve striped sweater. I loved the stripes but hated the design. 10 minutes after getting home I chopped the sleeves, added some slits, and turned the bottom hem into a wrap front tie. Wahla! A one of a kind piece. Next time you see something in the store and think, “I would love this if it only had…” buy it immediately and do it! Change it and make it your own. I believe in you, girl.
Things are heating up and all I’m interested in wearing are flowy tops and lighter fabrics. 90% of the time (especially when I’m hot..tired…hungry…etc) I want my outfit to be simple and getting dressed to be easy. I like to find simple pieces that can also be interesting to look at and this shirt completely fit the bill. I found it at Target and truly I couldn’t be more pleased because I feel like I haven’t found a piece from Target that I loved in far too long! I decided to pair it with my high-rise Levis and these blush colored glasses from Free People. YOU GUYS. Free People has the BEST accessories so don’t forget to check them out when shopping! Im currently obsessed with this little straw bag and will definitely adding this lil’ bebe to my summer round up. Nothing makes me happier than finding things that 6 billion other people aren’t already wearing and I’m so ready to waltz around town with my lil basket in tow.
I’m in a deeply committed relationship with my accessories. From caps, to neck scarfs, to sunglasses…I’m in and I’m wearing them all together. At once! This fiddler cap from Brixton hasn’t really left my head since I’ve bought it. I love that this style of hat hasn’t quite exploded and been seen on the heads of the masses yet. It makes it feel a little more special and adds to the cool factor – which for me, is everything!
Living in California, I don’t get to explore the world of layering as often as I’d like. Luckily this year we have had a cold spell so I have thoroughly enjoyed breaking out all my winter staples and throwing them on all at once. Gotta savor this moment of coldness while it lasts!
“Work wear” and “street wear” are not two things you tend to see meshed into one single look. The juxtaposition of the two, is what really drew me to style an outfit that could be worn in your professional and personal life. I love combining the unexpected, and when a creation like this actually works is when I feel the most excited about getting dressed.
